Motorola prototype cell phone with a tiny projector on board

Motorola will use technology from Microvision to build a prototype cell phone with a tiny projector on board. Called a pico projector, the technology uses a miniature laser-based DLP display engine to project a widescreen, 15-inch image onto a surface about 19 inches (half a meter) away. The image measures 854x480 pixels, which is superior to DVD quality. The projector can be used to share pictures, video content, web sites, and presentations with others. There is no word on when the prototype will be ready for demonstration, or whether the pico projector will be included in mass-market phones.
The prototype was first demonstrated in May 2007 at the Society of Information Display annual conference.
