AT&T is adding 30 cell-phone towers this year

In a multimillion-dollar expansion, AT&T Inc. is adding 30 cell-phone towers this year to increase its service in Central, North and Southwest Florida. The new cell sites, part of a $130 million investment plan, is almost double AT&T's expansion last year, when it added 16 towers. Customers in Orlando, Daytona Beach, Ocala, Jacksonville and Fort Myers will benefit from the latest improvements in coverage, according to AT&T, which has now spent $800 million on its Florida network since 2005. The former Cingular service is now available to more than 12 million Florida residents, AT&T said. AT&T acquired Bellsouth Corp. and the Cingular brand last year.
