Highly recommended, especially if you'd like to be able transfer your own ringtones, pictures, backgrounds and screensavers to your phone, or vice versa. The built-in locking clip holds the cable securely to the phone.
It would be nice if there were software for other computing platforms, such as Mac OS X or Linux, but that doesn't have much impact on whether or not the cable itself works, which it does and quite well at that.
