Easy cell phone recycling

The nation's leading cell phone makers, service providers, and retailers have teamed up with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to answer America's call for easy cell phone recycling. As part of EPA's Plug-In to eCycling program, partners supporting the cell phone recycling campaign include AT&T Wireless, Best Buy, LG Electronics, Motorola, Nokia, Office Depot, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, Sprint, Staples, and T-Mobile.

o kick-off the campaign, EPA released today a series of print public service announcements, "Recycle Your Cell Phone. It's An Easy Call," which highlight the convenience and environmental and social benefits of recycling a cell phone. EPA also introduced a podcast that addresses many common questions on cell phone recycling. EPA started the campaign because many consumers still do not know where or how they can recycle their unwanted cell phones. Consequently, less than 20 percent of unwanted cell phones are recycled each year.

Dodge Truck Radiator

If your Dodge truck is more than five or six years old, you may notice that your engine is running a little hotter that it used to, and you may have radiator problems. You should expect to start having radiator problems by the time your truck enters its sixth year of life.

The fact is that over time, environmental factors such as humidity, road salts and debris, hard water and chemical reactions will take a toll on the metal from which your Dodge Truck Radiator is constructed giving you radiator problems.

Typically, radiator problems can be slowed, but not completely stopped. Fortunately, you will find at Radiators.com the right replacement for your Dodge truck at the best price possible.

Google in NTT DoCoMo

NTT DoCoMo, the largest mobile operator in Japan, will sign a deal with Google in order to offer e-mail and web search services via the company's mobile phones. From the second quarter of 2008, NTT DoCoMo's subscribers will be able to access, directly from their handsets, Google's features (e-mail, photo-saving or scheduling) via the carrier's i-Mode Internet network. NTT DoCoMo also plans to work on a next-generation device to run on Google's free mobile operating system, Android. The device should be ready somewhere at the end of 2008 and could represent the beginning of a new era for high-end mobile phones.

Japan is one of the few countries where Yahoo! has a higher market share than Google: Yahoo! Japan holds more than 60 % of the market while Google only has a bit over 27 %. This being said, it's clear that Google tries to take advantage of NTT DoCoMo's position as the first mobile operator in Japan. The carrier currently provides mobile and multimedia services to more than 50 million subscribers and, since about 70 % of the mobile users access the web through their handsets, Google's market share in Japan has all the chances to reach a considerable growth rate thanks to the announced agreement.

Ads to your cell phone coming

Your cell phone is a potential gold mine for marketers: It can reveal where you are, whom you call and even what music you like. Considering the phone is usually no more than a few feet away, these are powerful clues for figuring out just the right moment to deliver the right coupon for the store just around the corner. But first marketers will have to wrest the personal profiles from mobile carriers worried that annoyed subscribers might defect to rivals. Carriers are now guarding the data zealously, but many people believe it's only a matter of time, over the next year or two, before marketers can routinely target ads to a potential customer's location and actions.

All Inclusive Cancun Vacation

The best hotel rates in Mexico come with the most strings attached. Check cancellation policies carefully, and find out if parking is included; take that into account when comparing rates. Check the local calendar to see what major events are happening during your All Inclusive Cancun Vacation . An arts festival can dramatically inflate room rates in an ordinarily sleepy seaside town.

Business travel drops during the summer months, however, which makes this a good time to visit major cities. You can get a lot of luxury for less by booking a bargain summer weekend at a hotel that normally caters to business travelers. Meanwhile, weekends at traditional summer destinations can be ferociously busy, so consider a midweek stay.

HTC Touch review

HTC Touch comes to challenge the PDA landscape and prove that Pocket PCs can compete with what some would call 'fashion phones'. The main advantages of the device are its stylish design and interface and the innovatory TouchFlo technology which simplifies finger-based operation and tries to make the use of the stylus only a matter of choice. The HTC Touch is also known under the names P3450 and Elf, the latter suiting it well if we consider its diminutive size. Several operators are offering rebranded versions of the PDA under different names, such as MDA Touch from T-Mobile and XDA Nova from O2. The HTC Touch can be purchased at a price of about $500, or less if bought with a mobile operator contract.

Of course, one can not overlook the context in which the Touch appeared: the near launch of the iPhone. According to HTC, the Touch spent more than two years in development, so the eventual similarities between the two devices are simple coincidences. The matter is not that important though, as the devices address different segments of the market, with the Touch probably being favored by those looking for a productivity tool, while the iPhone is a multimedia phone (at least until Apple decides to make 3rd party applications available for the iPhone).

Motorola plans to launch its next-generation Linux-based "Ming" handsets

Motorola plans to launch its next-generation Linux-based "Ming" handsets in the second quarter of 2008, with the hand input intelligence handsets to be available in both high-end and entry-level versions. Previously, the Ming was released only in a high-end version. While Motorola's R&D center in Beijing will continue to handle the development of the high-end version of the new Ming handsets, the US vendor will outsource the production of the new entry-level Ming handsets to the Taiwan-based Inventec Group, who also noted that the new Ming handsets will continue to support the 2.5G standard.

Motorola on December 17 launched its high-end 3.5G RAZR V9 in Taiwan, and the company plans to introduce in Taiwan a Symbian-based ROKR Z8, Windows Mobile-based Q9 and three entry-level models, including the W360 and W213, before the end of this year. Handsets supporting the 3G standard will account for 50% of all handsets sold in Taiwan in 2008, Chen projected.

Cabguards

There are a lot of different accessories that you can buy to dress up your truck. There are floor mats, spoilers, fancy wheels, cabguards and thousands of other items to help you personalize your vehicle. The two most important things to keep in mind however are safety and legality.

Make sure what you are planning to buy for your truck is legal in your state. Laws vary and what may be legal in Nevada may not be legal in New York. Don't assume that since it is sold, it must be legal. The one accessory that comes to mind to illustrate this is window tinting. There are states that allow windows to be tinted and others that strictly prohibit it. If you do a lot of interstate travel, that tinting may be legal where you live, but will get you a ticket in the next one you enter.

Nokia N-Gage gaming device

I'm sure many of you still remember the first Nokia N-Gage device. Some people have compared the original gaming phone to a plastic taco, and as such, it didn't go over quite as well as Nokia has hoped. Well, you already know about Nokia revitalizing the N-Gage branding in software form (starting with the N81), but they've also got new hardware too!

In this patent drawing, we see what could be the next-generation Nokia N-Gage gaming device. It'll naturally be a cell phone too, but it's definitely got a mobile gaming slant to it. In fact, there are handles that swing out much like the hand grips found on the PlayStation controller or the ones found on the GameCube controller. I'd say that the device looks alright as a handheld gaming machine, but how will it work as a cell phone? I think the N81 does a much better job in that respect.

Online learning are advantageous to students

There are many different reasons why online learning and distance education are advantageous to students. These reasons range all the way from making classes available to people in remote locations all the way down to cost effectiveness. A person living in one area no longer needs to travel to take the course that he/she wants to take, because the Internet is not bound by geography.

Convenience is another major advantage to online education from capella university . Students can take classes when they need them, not based on their university’s annual or semester schedule of when certain classes are offered. There is no time spent inside a classroom, and with modern day laptops and wireless technology, students can take their coursework with them anywhere.

IE8 passes the ACID2 test

It's good to see that IE8 passes the ACID2 test, but is it really completely standards compliant yet? And, as others have pointed out, what will happen to all the pages designed to run in IE before, will they design a system in the program that lets it render the "broken" code correctly? It's great, from a design perspective, that Microsoft finally ironed out this particular bug, but there are plenty more, and a lot more than will spring up, after this.

My final wish is that IE8 will work with WinXP. If it's Vista only, all of my enthusiasm is deflated. I want IE8 to be available to all modern Windows users. Scratch that, I want IE8 to be forced on all WindowsXP users and higher. Stick it in XP SP3 and make it a mandatory part of the service pack.

Cell phone chargers

Cell phone chargers may not be glamorous, but indeed, they can be indispensable when your phone loses power and you're on the go. And though a wide variety of such products exist, from the solar powered to the muscle powered, we prefer to get our emergency juice from more reliable sources. Like the Energizer Energi To Go that we reviewed last year, the Turbo Charge Tc2 portable cell phone charger from Voxred International runs on two AA batteries while sporting a simple, foolproof design. It delivers quick power to your phone and is more appealing than the Energi To Go or competing products from Tekkeon and the PlanOn. And unlike the emergency chargers from CellBoost, you can use the Turbo Charge multiple times. It's also reasonably priced at $24.95.

Getting your MBA online

If you have doubts about getting your MBA, you should remember that an MBA is an investment, with the payback coming in the shape of increased salary and career prospects after the degree. This needs to be factored in when choosing a capella university programme. What may at first seem expensive can in the longer view turn out to be a sound proposition? Note, too, that occasionally employers can be persuaded to contribute to the cost of an mba online , either by supporting an employee on a part-time programme, largely paying for an Executive MBA or even recompensing for the fees spent when hiring a newly graduated MBA.

3 ways to check coverage before you sign a cell phone contract

The most important thing to consider when choosing a cell-phone provider is whether there is good coverage in the areas you use your phone the most. Here are some ways to check coverage before you sign a contract.

1. All of the major carriers offer coverage maps where you can put in an address, intersection, ZIP code or city and see the strength of the coverage.

For T-Mobile, go to t-mobile.com/coverage; for Sprint, go to sprint.com/coverage; for Verizon Wireless, go to verizonwireless.com/b2c/CoverageLocatorController; for AT&T, go to wireless.att.com/coverageviewer.

2. When you go to one of these Web sites, first enter your home address to check the coverage around your house. You might want to also enter your work address, a relative or friend's address, or anywhere else you plan to make a lot of cell-phone calls.

3. If you are thinking of getting a data plan with your phone so you can surf the Web or send and receive e-mails, check the maps to see the strength of the data coverage.

Teenage internet users exposed to online pornography

The Internet is changing the way kids learn about the world around them; but unfortunately, not always for the better. Sure the information superhighway offers easy access to information when they have questions or need to complete school reports, but unfortunately that's not all our kids are finding.

According to a recent University of New Hampshire study, 42 percent of Internet users between the ages of 10 and 17 have been exposed to online pornography (defined in the study as images of naked people or people having sex). Of those, 66 percent said they did not want to view the images and had not sought them out. Many stumbled onto the X-rated images through other "normal" Internet use, including talking online with friends, visiting chat rooms and playing games.

Religious templates in your cell phone

An Italian company is offering a unique new service to cell phone subscribers who might be tempted to pay three euros to download an image of their favorite saint. A special SMS number will process orders for the images, according to the website www.santiprotettori.com (saint protectors). For an additional 50 cents (75 US), a "theme prayer" will be sent to the user each week.

The images include the main patron saints as well as Our Lady of Lourdes, Saint Pio of Pietrelcina -- one of Italy's most venerated saints, associated with supernatural events -- and San Gennaro, the patron saint of Naples whose blood preserved in a phial and is said to liquefy twice a year. Though not officially a saint, the widely-revered late pope John Paul II is among the subjects offered, as well as his successor Benedict XVI. The service is the brainchild of Barbara Labate, 31, who noticed that all her grandparents carried religious images around with them in their wallets.

An international cyber-crime center

Legislators in Canada are considering a bill to set up an international cyber-crime center, a kind of Interpol for the Internet, in Calgary, Alberta. The private members bill, currently before the Alberta Legislature, would allow the establishment of the Global Center for Securing Cyberspace in Calgary.

The center would not be a law enforcement agency, but rather a non-governmental collaborative enterprise combining research, advocacy and policing efforts. The center would reach out to form partnerships with law enforcement agencies in Canada and elsewhere. A statement from the association described the proposed entity as "an international center for the coordination and advancement of public safety, intelligence gathering, and government response related to the problem of cyber-crimes such as child exploitation, financial systems fraud, threats to critical infrastructure, intellectual property and identify theft."

SNOWCAP

Watching the snow and wondering whether your children have school or not? Just check your cell phone or email, thanks to a service Le Mars Community School subscribes to: SNOWCAP. When LCS and Gehlen Catholic School delay or cancel classes, LCS superintendent Todd Wendt immediately submits the announcement to SNOWCAP, which stands for Secure Notifications Of Weather/Urgent Cancellations and Postponements. SNOWCAP, based in Sioux City, turns around and pumps the message out to the local radio and TV stations.

But this year SNOWCAP is offering a service that will also send free alerts right to families' cell phones or email. Both LCS and Gehlen parents and families can use this service. The SNOWCAP concept, now in 344 schools and 128 businesses in the tri-state area, started in 1993 as a small service and has expanded to where their announcements feed directly into TV station's teleprompters.

Hosted VoIP service for SMBs

Timico, a UK-based provider of converged communication services, has partnered with Nortel to launch a tailor-made, hosted VoIP service for SMBs, incorporating a PC-based multimedia voice and video application that fully integrates with Microsoft Outlook messaging and collaboration client. This addition to Timico's VoIP for business service is expected to enable SMBs to improve efficiency and productivity by allowing them to dial colleagues, suppliers, business partners and customers using a click of the mouse within their Microsoft Outlook business application.

By combining the Nortel Application Server 5200 with Microsoft Outlook, the process of looking up a contact telephone number and picking up the phone to make the call can be shortened to a 'one click' access. If the call is made between two Timico VoIP for Business users, presence capabilities can be used to determine if the person being called is available, busy or away from their desk. The PC-based phone, within the VoIP for Business solution, has been established on Nortel's Application Server 5200 (AS5200) platform. The AS 5200 is Nortel's IMS-ready, SIP applications server, which integrates voice with video, collaboration and presence services to deliver next-generation unified communication services.

Silver has more room to grow

I think silver has more room to grow when you compare to the silver highs in the eighties.
The most important fact you have to remember, the largest mining companies in the world are not investing in finding more mines when the demand has already outnumbered the supply. Instead they are putting more funds in M&A activity. You can invest in silver through well famous and regulated companies like Monex Deposit Company (MDC). They can offer good advice for novice and professionals, and you can buy coins or ingots for your convenience.
I’m convinced that silver is definitely set to head up higher.

Nokia 6500 review

Nokia has tended to shy away from ultra-slim handsets. But, the Nokia 6500 Classic remedies that by measuring just 9.5mm thin. Available in either black or bronze, both colors look stunning. Although svelte, we were surprised as to how solid and sturdy it feels. So it should, as it's crafted from anodized aluminum, which is one of the most durable, yet lightweight materials around. What's more, the handset is individually diamond-polished, meaning no Nokia 6500 Classic is exactly the same.

The keys are a little fiddly to press because they're rather small, but the user interface is simple to use. Features are solid for a mid-range phone, with 3G (but no video calling), a reasonable two megapixel camera, good music player, stereo Bluetooth and 1GB of internal memory. Despite boasting 3G, the internet experience to be slightly sluggish with the screen struggling to fit in content. Meanwhile, the camera is capable but not awe inspiring, but the music player is excellent. The battery life is very acceptable for a mid-range phone.

Nokia Siemens opened an innovation center to develop software technologies

Nokia Siemens Network opened an innovation center to develop software technologies. The Innovation Software Park covers 22,000 square meters of a state-level high-tech industrialization zone in Hangzhou, a scenic city in east China's Zhejiang Province. More than 600 employees will carry out research in solutions for 2.5G, 3G, Wimax and I-HSPA mobile telecommunication technologies as well as develop relative software platforms, according to David Ho, president of Nokia Siemens Greater China Region.

It's the second largest wireless technology research base established by the world's leading network telecommunication company following the one in Finland. Nokia Siemens Network is a joint venture between Finland's Nokia and Germany's Siemens. It ranked second in the world's wireless network market and telecom service market, and the third in the world's cable network market. The company's net sales in the Great China Region reached 372 million euros in the third quarter of this year, up 26 percent on the second quarter. The company now has six research and development centers in Beijing, Shanghai, Suzhou, Chengdu, Shenzhen and Hangzhou.
